Summer Cost Savings Initiatives

It’s that time of year to pack up the car and head out on summer vacation. It takes a ton of energy to get everyone ready for your excursion, so why not save some energy in your home while you are away? There are several big and small changes you can make to have lower bills greet you upon your return home.
One of the biggest energy savers is changing the temperature of your home. Increasing the temperature of your home can result in cost savings, especially in July and August when your minimum billing demand rate is established for the remainder of the year. A big cost saver is to turn off the breaker to your water heater. If you are not going to be home your water heater does not need to be running.

Finding Year-Around Savings from 3-6 p.m.

Fifty-three percent of our annual power bill is based on power consumed during our 3 to 6 p.m. demand time frame. Along with the efforts of our members, our goal is to reduce power cost during that three-hour window. The price of electricity is at a premium during that 3 to 6 p.m. window due to the “high demand” for energy production during those hot, summer hours.
One of Butler Electric’s core principals is to provide value to its membership. If you have questions on energy usage, programmable thermostats or any cost saving measures, please know that you can call our office at 800-464-0060 to receive the help you need.
